As a follow-up to the successful Bar and Social Evenings we've been holding at the Hall, Friday 15 April saw our first ever Open Mic Night - an opportunity for local talent to come along and show us what they can do.
Our "house band" - Pete and Liz from the Outsiders with the addition of base player Mick - gave us a few numbers and then opened the floor.
We enjoyed some great songs from a newcomer to the Hall, Henry Plume, a young singer-songwriter whom we quickly dubbed Norfolk's answer to Ed Sheeran! Henry played some covers, as well as some of his own compositions. We expect to see a lot more of this talented young man in the future, and he's hoping to come back and play for us at the Sunday Fun Day on 5 June.
Adding to the entertainment was our very own Louise Thurgar, with backing from Fred and Noddy (her brother-in-law and his brother), singing some classic numbers. A talented trio - apparently Louise used to be a backing singer for some quite well-known bands and she certainly hasn't lost her touch.
A big thank you to all the acts and to the appreciative audience for coming.
We hope to see you again next time, and would like to extend the invitation to any singers, duos or other small bands, or indeed comedians, to join us at our next event. No need to book, just turn up on the night and we'll fit you in!
Keep an eye on the Events at the Hall page for our next Open Mic Night.
